What are the Client Services that DCAP provides? [top]
- Case Management: See below for full description.
- Advocacy: The case management staff assist clients in applying for public benefits and other programs.
- Volunteer Assistance: Trained Volunteers work with clients to provide transportation, assistance with daily living needs, and supportive social contact.
- Support Groups: The Support Group provides a forum for persons living with HIV/AIDS to discuss concerns and share experiences.
- Financial Assistance: DCAP provides, on a limited basis, assistance to help pay for medication, medical bills, medical equipment, and other living expenses not covered by insurance or other assistance programs.

- Referral Information: DCAP offers referrals to medical and non-medical specialists and programs that may be helpful to those infected with HIV and their families.
- HIV/ AIDS Information and Education: DCAP has a lending library that includes books, magazines, pamphlets and videos with information on a variety of HIV/AIDS-related topics.
Who is a Client? [top]
- A client at DCAP is anyone living with HIV or AIDS. The Client Care Staff also works with the families of those infected. There is no charge to clients for the services that DCAP provides.
How Does Someone Become a Client? [top]
- If you are interested in DCAP's client services call us at 785-843-0040 and make an appointment with Gerald Downs, the Client Care Coordinator or Shannon Ikerd, Case Manager.
- The Client Care staff will assist you in accessing services and provide on-going case management. You will need to bring verification of your HIV status and proof of Kansas residency to your first appointment.
What is case management? [top]
- Case management is a comprehensive program designed to meet the needs of people living with HIV or AIDS. The Client Care staff works with each client to develop a service plan that will meet their individual needs. All client interactions are kept strictly confidential.
What are Ryan White Funds? [top]
Ryan White funds are allocated by the federal government. Ryan White funds assist persons living with HIV/AIDS, who do not have medical insurance or other assistance, by paying for medical and other expenses resulting from HIV/AIDS. The Client Care staff can help eligible clients apply for these services.
