How to Use A Condom Properly

Putting a Condom On

The condom in the photo to the left is shown as it would be rolled down onto the penis. Because a condom rolls down the penis, it can only go on one way. If you ever try to put a condom on with the wrong side onto the penis, throw it away and start with a new unopened condom.
Before putting the condom onto the penis, sqeeze of a portion of the end. Leave this portion of the condom for a place for the semen. Some condoms have resevoir tips, as the one shown here, and others do not. Either way, reserve space in any condom before applying.
Place the condom onto the head of the penis, still holding of the reserved space. Do not release hold of the reserved space at this time.

It does not matter which partner applies the condom, as long as it is done carefully and properly.
Still holding the reserved area at the tip of the condom, begin rolling the condom down the penis. Be careful not to use fingernails, as this could tear the condom. Roll the condom down the the base of the penis.

A condom fits rather snuggly on a penis, so rolling it down can be difficult. Be gentle, so as not to injure the penis or cause discomfort. It is important that the penis stay erect in order to apply the condom.
This is how a condom should look on a penis. Notice that the tip still has space for the semen. It is not necessary that the condom be rolled down perfectly smooth. Notice that there are what appear to be "wrinkles" in the condom in the photo. This is fine as long as the condom fits snuggly on the penis. If the condom is too large, smaller sizes are available. Larger sizes are also available, but most average condoms can hold four quarts, so they can fit over most any penis.

Using a Condom
Once the condom has been correctly placed on the penis, it is important to make sure that the condom stays on and is intact during use. Take the time to make sure that the condom is on and periodically examine it to be sure that it has not torn. Condoms are only effective if used properly. Proper use can only be assured by the indivuduals using them. Make it a part of your experience to incorporate proper use into the sexual experience.

Taking a Condom Off
Once the male wearing the condom has ejaculated, the penis must quickly be removed from the body cavity it is in and the condom removed. It does not matter which partner removes the condom as long as they are careful not to come into contact with the other partner's body fluids. Again seal of the tip of the condom where the semen is and hold it as shown in the picture. While holding the tip, roll the condom up only a portion of the way and then gently pull it off of the penis.
Tie the condom off, sealing in the semen. Do this turned away from the your partner and away from your eyes. It is important to practice tying off a condom before you actually do it with one that has been used. Tying off a condom is much like tying off a balloon. If you have never tied one off, do not try it with one that you have just used.
Dispose of used condoms properly. If possible, wrap them in something like a paper towel or tissue and dispose of them in a trash container where pets and children cannot get to them.Do not flush condoms as they can easily clog plumbing.
