Oscar Parties to Benefit DCAP

The annual event that brings to mind movie stars, paparazzi and screaming fans will soon be here. For many people, this is a time to gather, eat, drink, and cheer on our favorite actors, and decide who is dressed like a star and who isn’t.

This year DCAP will be sponsoring viewing parties in the homes of our supporters throughout the area. Hosts will invite friends to their homes and provide an Oscar celebration of their own design. Guests will show their support by eating, drinking, celebrating the Oscars and then making a donation to DCAP. If you are interested in hosting a party, here is an easy planning guide to follow.

  1. Register your party with DCAP by going to our website (douglascountyaidsproject.org) or calling us at 785-843-0040.
  2. Decide the time and place of your event, but do keep in mind pre-Oscar events begin at 6pm and may go later into the evening.
  3. Hosts provide the food and beverages of choice.
  4. A minimum donation of $20 is suggested but you may ask whatever you deem appropriate of your guests.
  5. Send out invitations of your own design. We may have DCAP supporters looking for a party to attend. If you are able to host additional guests, please notify the DCAP office.
  6. Celebrate! And when the party is over and the confetti has settled, bring your donations to DCAP.

What does DCAP provide? The following is available upon request:
  • Party invitations that can be printed or emailed to guests
  • Tracking forms to register guests
  • Trivia games and awards ballots
  • DCAP brochures, red ribbons, condoms and safe sex kits
  • A list of party ideas and websites for party décor
  • Volunteer to assist if your party turns out to be a blockbuster
